Japanese Beech is a deciduous tree native to Japan and is common throughout it’s deciduous forests. The Japanese Beech ( Fagus Crenata ) is also known as Seibold’s Beech or Buna. It is often found in the region of the Oshima Peninsula in Hokkaid?o south to the Osumi Peninsula in Kyush?.
Japanese Beech can grow up to 30 metres in height and typically grows in isolated stands. It favours sandy, loamy soil that is well drained and is normally found in mountainous areas. The crown of the Japanese Beech tree is rounded and the bark is smooth in texture an grayish in color. The leaves have 7 to 11 pairs of veins and they are broadest at the base of the leaf.
